Paint Making

Today for Discovery Junior Hub 2 had a go at making some paint. We are learning about asking questions and experimenting for our Inquiry this term.

We grated chalk into powder and mixed it with water. We had to experiment to see how much water we needed and how thick the paint needed to be.
We also tried some colour mixing by grating up different coloured chalk.

Miss Gray's class did some awesome gardening today. Thanks to Bianca and Miss Day's year 3's for helping us out. It was a perfect day to be out enjoying the sunshine and working in our garden.

Statistics Learning

For the first two weeks of Term 4 Year 2 are learning all about Statistics. Here is what we are learning to do:
1. Pose a question for investigation.
2. Collect data
3. Sort data into categories
4. Display data using tally marks, pictographs and simple bar charts.
5. Make comments about data.

Below are some photos from our learning today. We were given some pictures of big cats to sort into groups. We had to explain to the class why we grouped them the way we did. It was so interesting seeing everyone's different ideas!

Static Electricity

Today for Science we were looking at Static Electricity. We weren't too sure what it was all about at first but now we are experts! We learned about positive and negative charge and what kinds of things generate static electricity. Have a look at us experimenting today!

Floating and Sinking

In our inquiry this term we are learning how to be scientists. This means we are looking at lots of different topics and learning to test fairly and ask questions to find out new information.

This week we are moving into our Floating and Sinking topic. We spent time today learning and testing what would float and what would sink. We learned how to use a table to record our predictions and then tested them to see if we were right!
